St. Patrick's Day is on March 17, and is the ultimate Irish day of good cheer, leprechauns and green accessories. We're always looking for an excuse for a party, so we've put together the ultimate St. Patrick's Day party planning guide for you. We've got everything covered, from fancy dress costumes to homemade snacks, decorations and even party flyers. Whether you're planning a small get-together with friends or a massive Irish shindig, you'll find some inspiration here. Let's get started!
Pick an outfit
It's no fun showing up to a St. Patrick's Day party in your regular disco gear. I'm serious. At the very least, you've got to wear every single green item of clothing you own. And if you want your party invitees to really get in the mood, then make it a costumed affair. My favorite is, of course, the classic leprechaun costume (it never fails). There's also the slutty leprechaun costume for ladies (or adventuros men) who want to trun heads.
If you have the idea of parading the streets in a full-on costume, you can at least opt for a shamrock hat to set the right tone. Crafty folks can easily make their own leprechaun costume with nothing more than some thrift store finds.

It's amazing what you can do with a pair of scissors and some green tissue paper. There's no need to go crazy, but some green party cups, as string of shamrocks and nice little door decoration will help set the mood.

Get the drinks flowing
What would a St. Patrick's Day party be without drinks?! Your first choice should be a crate of Guinness. You might want to read up on how to pour a pint, too, you'd be surprised what an art form it is.
St. Paddy's is also a fun night for cocktails - anything green goes. That means Absinthe, of course. Some other great options include Crème de Menthe, Apple Liquer and a classic Mojito. For flavors, go for everything green: kiwi, lime, mint and apple (not all at once please!).
Get your snack on
With all the merriment, your guests will get hungry fast. Time to offer them some fancy-looking shamrock cookies. Any cookie recipe will work fine, simply twist the method by using a shamrock cookie cutter and a little green food dye. You can also add some green edible glitter for extra points.
For variation, also bake some shamrock shake cupcakes, a simple cupcake with a swirl of green icing on top. Lookout for some green cupcake cases, too.
